Projects Supported

USICEF aims to accelerate progress towards India’s renewable energy and energy access goals, by supporting early stage development of distributed solar power projects and helping to catalyze long-term financing. USICEF invites distributed solar power project developers who operate in the following categories in India to apply for support:

Mini-Grid & Micro-Grid Power Generation

Mini-grid or micro-grid solar power projects with or without grid interactivity to a national utility

Market-Based Solutions

Projects involving sales and distribution of small-scale clean energy systems and products that provide access, or extend the hours of access, to electricity, including rooftop and small ground-mounted solar projects of less than 5 MW capacity individually, or 20 MW aggregated

Renewable Energy Infrastructure Catalyzers

Projects that introduce or expand essential infrastructure or provide additional resources to a specific market ( e.g. financing, leasing facilities or companies engaged in portfolio development of self-generation solutions for customers)

Eligibility Criteria

Projects must be focused on solar power generation and distribution for external commercial consumption.

Projects must utilize technologies that have already been proven in commercial operations and/or tested at a Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) accredited lab.

The Project Developer should not be blacklisted by any government or public sector agency in India.

How to Apply

  3. Send the completed application form with supporting documents to usicef@cpiclimatefinance.org.
  4. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. Typically it may take between 9 to 15 weeks from the date of application submission for the application review process to be concluded.
