Projects Supported

USICEF aims to accelerate progress towards India’s renewable energy and energy access goals, by supporting early stage development of distributed solar power projects and helping to catalyze long-term financing. USICEF invites distributed solar power project developers, aggregators, and financial intermediaries who operate in the following categories in India to apply for support:

Off-Grid Segment

Mini-grid & Micro-grid solar power projects with or without grid interactivity to a national utility. This also includes projects involving sales and distribution of solar products such as home lighting systems, pumps, lanterns etc.

Rooftop Solar Segment

Rooftop solar projects and businesses as well as small ground mounted solar projects of less than 5 MW capacity individually or 20 MW aggregated

Financial Intermediaries

Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs), aggregators, and fund structures that provide financing to developers or consumers in the off-grid and rooftop solar segment.

Eligibility Criteria

Projects must be focused on solar power generation and distribution for external commercial consumption.

Projects must utilize technologies that have already been proven in commercial operations and/or tested at a Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) accredited lab.

The Project Developer should not be blacklisted by any government or public sector agency in India.
